Frequently asked questions

What is Equity National Council?
Actors' Equity Association is the labor union that represents professional stage managers and actors in the US.  The National Council is a board of volunteer members who are elected to set the policies and direction of the union.

What are you running for?
I'm running to be an Eastern Principal Councilor, which means I'm running for a seat that has been allocated to the Eastern Region for those who work on Principal (as supposed to Chorus or Stage Management) contracts.

Do I have to live in the Eastern Region to vote for you?
No!  National council elections are national, so you can vote for folks who are running in the east even if you live in the Central or Western regions.

How and when do I vote?
Ballots will be mailed to all Equity members in good standing on April 26th.  When yours arrives, fill it out and mail it back!  Ballots must be received back by May 24th at 5pm to be counted.

I have to vote on paper? Can't I do it online?
Federal law requires that these kinds of elections be done with physical ballots--so there's no online option.  I agree that this is dumb and frustrating!

Why should I vote for you?
Check out my page here, and if you're still not convinced, reach out to me on social media!  I'd love to chat!

Jacqui, this all seems great, but can you tell me anything else about yourself?  Do you have a favorite ice cream flavor?  Favorite Yankee? What's good on TV right now?
Well, person-on-the-internet, I can tell you that my favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip cookie dough, but I'm game for anything that doesn't have coconut in it.  My favorite all-time Yankee is Jorge Posada (love a catcher who hits for power, plus the ears, and he just seems like he's a really good Dad, you know?), but if we're talking current roster I think Gleyber Torres is winning my heart right now.  And as for TV, my favorite thing so far this year has been The Great on Hulu. Check that out (once you've filled out your AEA ballot, of course).
