Hi, I'm Jacqueline (aka Jacqui, she/her) and I'm running to be an Eastern Principal Councilor for Actors Equity Association!  Got questions about what council does, how to vote, what this all means?  Check out my FAQ Page!

I'm a New York-based actor, and I currently serve as an Eastern Principal Delegate and member of the
Member Engagement & Education Action Team. Read more about my Governance Experience here!

We are in the midst of a moment of incredible public support for unions. With our new Executive Director and public opinion behind us, Equity has the opportunity to realign our values and priorities. Equity does not currently engage in large-scale organizing, and our disengaged membership is an existential threat to our union.  We need councilors who will push for a consciousness shift towards organizing and activating our members on an ongoing, persistent basis.  This is how we build engagement, gain strength, and win. Check out more of my thoughts on Relentless Organizing here.

I spent the two years before the pandemic on tour with The Play that Goes Wrong, first on a Production contract and then on SETA. I recently performed the same show on a LORT contract. This experience–performing the same material in quick succession on three different contracts, before COVID and then during COVID–gave me a deep and unique insight into our contracts and the ways they do and don’t function well. Stage managers and actors deserve to be treated fairly, to be paid a living wage, and to be physically and psychologically safe in their workplaces–regardless of what contract they are working. As a councilor, I will negotiate aggressively for our membership as we emerge from the pandemic. Read on about Aggressive Negotiating here!

Beyond this, Equity must utilize all methods available to us-- CBA (collective bargaining agreement) negotiations, contract enforcement, union policy, advocacy work--to be a force for good in our industry as we combat all forms of inequality and injustice, coupling aggressive negotiation tactics with progressive values. A union’s power is its people–we must activate the full scope of our membership to achieve better for us all.  More of my thoughts on Progressive Values here!

Want to know who I'm voting for?  I'm flattered!  Check out some other great folks here.
